First Post

Woo Hoo! I have our family blog site up and running... well up at least. This has been an experience! Having to decide the purpose for our family site has been challenging. There are so many reasons why one would start a blog. Obviously, the number one reason is to post to family and friends about what is going on in our lives. Our rather large, busy, 21st century family has a difficult time keeping up with everyone all the time. Hopefully this will be a useful tool for communication. Hey, it has to be better than facebook, right? At least here I can control the whining and gossiping that seems to dominate on facebook. Don’t get me wrong, facebook is where I learn what is going on in my kids world’s, but sometimes it is just too much!

My alternative motive for blogging is to create various networks. My first networking goal is to start blogging with other blended families who have success (and not so successful) stories of survival. How other families navigate this crazy world we call being a blended family. As the “step-mom” of children for the past 13 years, I have been through trials and tribulations. Recently I have experiences some successes, but I still look back and wonder how we will ever “get over” the past. I want to share experiences in an effort to “get over” the past and to move on to the future.

My other networking goal, which will begin shortly, is on forgiveness. In today’s world everyone I know struggles with forgiveness in some form. There are people who I still owe an apology to and there are some who I need to completely forgive even though they haven’t apologized. Again, I want to share stories, encourage one another, and find true healing for all.

I am not sure where this will lead, but I am excited for the journey! So, for my first “question”, has anyone else had any experiences with blogging? How was it? Was it worth it? What did you use blogging for? Any pointers you would pass on for a successful blog?

Until we read again!
